We honor veterans

1 in 4 Americans that pass away each year is a Veteran, with an estimated 680,000 Veterans lost each year.  Texas alone has a population of 1.6 million Veterans.  Less than 30% of those are enrolled in the VA system.

That is why Guiding Hospice has joined the We Honor Veterans (WHV) program.  WHV is a collaborative program with the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and the Department of Veteran Affairs.

What is the We Honor Veterans (WHV) program?

WHV is program that is focused on staff and volunteer education to meet the specific medical and psychosocial needs of our Veteran's and their families.  We also provide resources to families and the community regarding benefits for which Veterans may be entitled. The WHV program currently has 4 Levels of Commitment:

Level 1:  Provide Veteran-Centric Education

Level 2: Build Organizational Capacity

Level 3: Develop and Strengthen Relationships

Level 4: Increase Access and Improve Quality

Guiding Hospice is currently a Level 1 with a goal to be at level 4 by the end of 2019.

Our engagement with the Veteran community will remain a top priority and focus, forever.  For we believe our greatest contribution and responsibility to our community is to ensure the very people that made, and continue to make sacrifices on our behalf, be treated with the upmost dignity, respect and honor during the completion of their journey.
